Dryer Sheets Can Do What?

Go and check out http://wisebread.com for an interesting article about 12 cool things to use dryer sheets for. Many of the uses I have heard of and have used,but there were a few that I've never even thought about. If you are frugal like,moi you'll find it very helpful. If your not frugal then you'll probably not care-oh well!

I thought the most helpful was using the dryer sheet to clean your blinds. Not only does it clean your blinds,but it also helps to keep the blinds less dusty. Everyone that knows me--knows that I HATE Dusting(sound like Angry Smurf,don't I)! To me its kinda like laundry,never ending,but I don't mind doing laundry.

This is such a sad and senseless story. In my neighborhood,my family and I heard those celebratory shots going off too. My 13 year old daughter,Kennedy wondered why people would shoot a gun to celebrate and not firecrackers. She kept on saying,"What if one of those bullets goes through some one's house and hits them." She also said,"They don't think.....what goes up,must come down.....and it will come down really fast."



Our family had a nice conversation about the ignorance of celebratory gunfire, while we sat and watched the Ball drop.



Now, our city has this tragic story as a headline. I hope this story will be lesson for many people out there.....if you want to celebrate-then celebrate!



When I think of guns, It doesn't make me want to celebrate. Guns to me are for: protection,hunting(a reason to celebrate,I guess)and warfare.



I hope whoever did this,will turn his/her self in.

Here is something that really fascinates me from time to time,I love finding out what are the best cities to do business in. As someone who runs a small homebased daycare,I always wonder about expanding my business one day. Since I live in the Atlanta area its always fun to see where Atlanta ranks business wise.

Hope Everyone Had a Great Holiday

I celebrated Christmas with my immediate family,at home,sitting in our PJ's until noon. Then I had to get down to business and hit the one only grocery store in my area up,so I could make my famous Spinach Beef and Mushroom lasagna. Yeah I know,why in the world would I wait to the last minute to make my Christmas dinner.....Well, my husband and I became consumed with finding a game called Pop the Pig, for our youngest daughter, and the Wii system for the whole gang,that we kept waiting to finish up our grocery shopping. I knew this would be a big mistake,but some days I just wanted to go home and rest,get warm or just eat.

We never did find that Pop the Pig game;it was always advertised on t.v.,but every time we went to a toy store,no one ever heard of the game.

My husband eventually found the Wii system, and I was glad he had found the system because we had already picked up a few games that were on sale a while back.

So, we found the Wii and now we're trying to figure out how to give the gift to the kids. I had already wrapped the Wii games with a bundle of movies that we bought the kids. We wanted the kids to unwrap this gift all together. The kids decided that they wanted me to unwrap it,so I did,and I took each movie out one by one as the kids read each title. Then I came to the middle of the movie pile and showed them the Wii game-and they didn't get it at first. Their first response was,"We don't have a Wii,that's for the Wii system." Then my husband said,"Oh you don't?" He told our oldest son, Rico(Brother) to go and check for another box in our room.

This is when pandemonium hit our living room. I wished our camcorder was still working because that was one of the best reactions I've ever seen. There was jumping,hugging,and screaming,you would have thought we'd hit the Jackpot. Well,I guess we did...from their point of view.

So, pretty much it turned out to be a fun filled day; everyone got pretty much what they wanted and needed. We had lots of fun playing the array of new board games,the Wii system, and made jewelry from a jewelry kit. All in all it was a pretty fun day minus the shopping for groceries on Christmas Day and spending way too much money on a few little items. Oh, well, it was a good meal that lasted for three days.....can't beat that,can you?

Last night I went to my first hockey game thanks to my 10 year old son,Rico. He received a voucher ticket from his school for his excellent grades. It was the first ever attended hockey game for both of us,and man what an experience!

The game was fast paced,exciting and the crowd was awesome. Oh, did I mention we had great seats.....No nosebleed seats for us and I'm glad that my son got the chance to see the action up close the way he did. Just to see the sheer excitement in his face made my night.

I wished I had a camera to take pictures,but my camera is still broken. Hopefully, Santa will have one for me.

Man, I just lost a lot of my thoughts because I'm trying to type this on a Sunday afternoon while the kids are doing chores and they keep on talking to me. I knew I should have written my thoughts down,but I wanted to wing it!

Well, I just have to say,if you haven't been to a hockey game,what are you waiting for?

I've always enjoyed watching hockey now and then on television but there's nothing like hearing the cracking of the puck,the sounds of the skates sliding on the ice,the bodies banging against the glass as the players scramble for the puck,and of course.....the fights!

Hockey what a game,what an experience! I definitely would love to attend more games. I've always been a big college basketball fan (let's go Duke!),who knows,hockey might become a sport I truly follow now. I know my son can't stop talking about the game and the experience either and he wants to attend more games. He couldn't stop going over the program from last night's game. I'm glad we both had a great time and hopefully we can do this more often with each other.

The Banking Game

A few nights ago,my husband and I had to make a quick late night trip to the grocery store. We went to pick some lettuce,bread,eggs and milk. We probably picked up a few more items,but those were the main items we needed to get. So, anyway my husband and I are ready to check out and decided to use the self check out lane at our local Kroger's. We made our purchase using his debit card.

The following day he also used his debit card to put some gas in the car. Now mind you, he uses a debit card because it supposedly posts immediately;however,our bank didn't get the memo about this issue and lately hasn't been taking our purchases out immediately. Instead they wait 3 to 4 days to take money out of your account and also have been waiting 2 days to post money that we put into the back.

I mean come on now, if I deposit a certain amount of money into the bank before 2 p.m.,I expect to see my money in that bank account the next evening,don't you?

I see what these banks are doing now and it's not funny at all. They're waiting to deposit money to bank accounts and waiting to post your debit card purchases immediately because they know they can get many people with overdraft fees. Your account can be overdrawn by $9 and they charge you $35 for being overdrawn. This is what happened to my husband,his account was overdrawn by $9 four times,I guess in the past 2 weeks,I don't know,but the bank charged him $140 in overdraft fees.

Now this all started with us going to buy a few staple items at the grocery store (which added up to $13.00),and him having money in his account already before we made the purchases. In fact, he had made a call to check his account because he wanted to see if the money he had deposited earlier that day had posted yet,but it had not,and we were trying to figure out why the money hadn't deposited by now.

When I found out about him being charged $140 in overdraft fees,I was pissed,but I also realized this is how these banks make their money. Banks know that majority of Americans don't carry cash and use their debit cards on a regular basis. They know many people don't keep up with their account and go over budget,and not to mention the fact that many of these banks are struggling right along with many Americans.....what better way to make a profit. So, instead of immediately withdrawing money from a person's account they wait a few days and then, WHAM...... They've got you!

The banks can't get me because I use the cash in my hands. If I don't have the cash in my hands to buy something then I don't buy it. I know having a debit card is basically cash on hand,but I've never trusted that system. There's something about not knowing exactly what's in my account and,I don't know....I've just never trusted paperless,cashless,plastic card carrying system.....Believe me, there were times where I wanted to switch and be like everyone else,but couldn't because I kinda felt like I would become powerless for someone reason.

So, when my husband told me what happened,I said,"basically you need to carry some cash on you. " He said,"Yeah!"
